My training approach is based on a balance scale of praise, correction, and motivation. Motivation is the core of my training approach, thus we keep training fun and engaging for the owner and the dog. Correction and praise is given according to the dog acting either appropriately or inappropriately. Obviously a dog receives a correction for inappropriate behavior and praise for acting appropriately.
Obedience is the foundation of it all. Obedience initially acts as a way to educate your dog and provide a clear and consistent means of communication, Obedience can develop a owner/ dog relationship into a powerful bond of friendship and companionship. Basic obedience consists of performing commands on-leash and advanced obedience consists of performing commands off-leash
The following is a list of commands:
Heel: during a heel command the dog focuses on the owner and never pulls on the leash, When the owner stops the dog will automatically sit and wait for either another command or a release from the command. This allows the owner to take the dog into public settings, feeling confident that they are in control of their dog.
Automatic-Sit: when the owner stops walking the dog sits automatically.
Down: dog lays down and holds position until released from command.
Sit from a Down Position: the dog goes into a sit position from a down, this allows the dog to realize commands can be given even when he or she is laying down.
Sit in Motion: sit command given while the dog and owner are moving . When command is give the dog sits and the owner continues to move forward either walking or running.
Down in Motion: same as the sit in motion, but instead of sitting the dog lays down and waits for further feedback.
Sit Stay: the dog remains sitting where the command was given for an extended period of time.
Down Stay: the dog remains laying down where the command was given for an extended period of time.
Come: dog comes to its owner and sits directly in front of the owner, looking up at the owner ready for the next command.
Place: dog is given a mat/bed to lay on, it is to remain on the mat/bed for an extended period of time, the mat/bed is like a kennel or crate without walls.
Stand: dog stands up on all four paws, this is good for vet visits or grooming.
Finish: the dog moves into a heel command, the dog comes around the right front side of the owner to get into a heel position and then the dog sits directly next to the owner.
